Montgomery College Seeks Trustees
Montgomery College seeks to fill two vacancies on its Board of Trustees. The persons selected will serve a six-year term starting July 1, 2001.
The Board of Trustees is the governing body for Montgomery College. The College enrolls 20,000 students at campuses in Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park. In addition, 22,000 students enroll in Continuing Education programs throughout Montgomery County.
Trustee applicants may not be employed by the College. Applicants must attend a one-hour orientation session at Montgomery College, before being interviewed by the Nominating Committee. Trustees devote more than 240 hours per year as a board member and do not receive compensation.
A nominating committee, comprised of local residents will forward its recommendations to the Governor, who appoints the College’s trustees. With the exception of the student board member, the Governor’s appointments are subject to State Senate confirmation.
Montgomery County residents interested in serving on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees should submit a letter of intent, a resume and other materials, including a telephone number and e-mail address, no later than 5 p.m., Wednesday, November 1.
