To Present a Variety of Upcoming Events
Montgomery College’s Paul Peck Humanities
Institute will host a variety of upcoming lectures, symposiums,
concerts and other such events, all of which will be free and
open to the public. Please mark your calendar and for the
following events:
- February 22, 7 p.m. -- Civil Rights
Series Lecture
. Dr. Leonard
Steinhorn discusses his book, The Illusion of Integration
and the Reality of Race. His presentation will focus
on the difference between the perception of integration and
racial realities in the United States. This will be held in
the Theatre Arts Arena on Montgomery College's Rockville
Campus, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville.
- March 22, 7 p.m. -- "Good
Housekeeping: A Visual History of Domestic Technologies,
From the Toilet to the Kitchen Sink," a symposium,
co-sponsored by the College's Humanities Institute and the
Smithsonian Institution
.
Smithsonian curator Ellen Lupton, who will provide a
fascinating and humorous exploration of the history of
domestic technologies, will lead the discussion. Location:
Theater Arts Building, Montgomery College's Rockville
Campus, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville.
- April 11, 1 p.m. -- Freedom Seder
.
The third annual Freedom Seder is an interfaith Passover
Seder, which acknowledges the struggle for justice and
freedom as a common thread of humanity. Location: Student
Lounge, Montgomery College's Takoma Park Campus, 7600 Takoma
Avenue, Takoma Park.
- April 12, 12 p.m. -- Holocaust
Commemoration: "Fania Fenelon in Auschwitz: Playing for
Time."
An Evening with
Madame F is Claudia Stevens' acclaimed depiction in
music, song, and drama of the experience of Fania Fenelon
and other concentration camp musicians. Location: Theater
Arts Building, Montgomery College's Rockville Campus, 51
Mannakee Street, Rockville.
- April 12, 7:30 p.m. -- Holocaust
Commemoration Concert, presented by the Montgomery
College-Rockville Music Department
.
In keeping with the music of the Holocaust, the Rockville
Music Department presents a concert in commemoration of the
Holocaust. Location: Theatre Arts Arena, Montgomery
College's Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville.
