College to Host Nursing Leadership Conference
March 31 Event Honoring Founder
of College’s Nursing Program
To Focus on Leadership in a Diverse Workplace
Montgomery College’s Nursing Program,
along with its Workforce Development and Continuing Education
are jointly sponsoring the First Annual Helen Statts Nursing
Leadership Conference on Saturday, March 31, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30
p.m. at the Glenview Mansion, 603 Edmonston Street in Rockville.
The conference, which honors the vision
and achievements of Helen Statts, founder and first dean of the
Nursing Program housed at the Takoma Park Campus, is designed to
help participants develop communication techniques, handle
conflicts and complaints, develop their own unique leadership
style, and act as a catalyst for positive change in today’s
dynamically changing health care environment.
Principal speaker is Dr. Sharon Dyson, an
education specialist and recognized management trainer from the
College’s Diversity Management Institute.
The conference registration fee of $50
includes continental breakfast, lunch, and materials. A
certificate of attendance from the Diversity Management
Institute, granting 1.5 nursing CEUs will be awarded. The
registration fee also includes a tax-deductible contribution of
$5 for the Nightingale Scholarship Fund.
