Montgomery College Launches Fall
Season
of Enrichment Programs for Students
in Grades K-8
Montgomery College’s Workforce
Development & Continuing Education unit announces its fall season of
youth programs for students in grades K through 8.
The first program, Kids on Campus,
jointly sponsored by Montgomery College and Montgomery County Public
Schools/Division of Community Outreach provides a variety of
challenging and fun learning experiences. Courses run from four to
eight weeks, with tuition ranging from $90 to $345.
The College's Germantown Campus
offers one course, Study Skills Application. The Rockville Campus
offers Another Time and Another Place; Cartooning; Creative Writing
Workshop; Working and Playing with Words; Introduction to Ceramics;
Keyboarding and Basic Windows; Keyboarding for Computers; The SOS
Program: Learning to Learn; Stone Carving; Using MS Word; and Young
Scientist. The Takoma Park Campus offers: Color, Color Color; The
Joy of Cool Art Projects; and Sculpture and Art Construction.
The second program, Voyager on
Campus, features Mysteries, an eight-week course for third through
sixth graders. Students will penetrate layers of mystery, evaluate
evidence, and investigate unexplained phenomena that have baffled
the world’s greatest minds. They will develop critical thinking
skills and challenge the limits of creativity as they search for
answers to puzzling questions and elusive clues.
The course will be held at
Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus, starting Saturday, October
20. Tuition is $165 for Maryland residents; non-residents add $40.
