Conference on Technology in
Collegiate Mathematics, Nov. 1-4
Montgomery College to Host This Year's Meeting
in Downtown Baltimore
Mathematics educators and
researchers from all over the worldR014representing two-year
colleges and four-year colleges and universities, as well as high
schoolsR014will converge in downtown Baltimore, Maryland from
November 1-4 to participate in the 14th International Conference
on Technology in Collegiate Mathematics (ICTCM).
Hosting this year’s
conferenceR014which will be held at the Baltimore Marriott
Waterfront HotelR014is Montgomery College, Maryland's oldest and
largest community college, with campuses in Rockville, Germantown
and Takoma Park. Addison-Wesley is the conference sponsor.
“ICTCM is the premier meeting that
focuses on the use of technology in the teaching and learning of
collegiate mathematics, and Montgomery College is very proud to be
this year's host,” said Dr. Judy Ackerman, Instructional Dean of
Science, Engineering and Mathematics on Montgomery College's
Rockville Campus. Dr. Ackerman is co-chairing the event, along with
MC mathematics professor Patricia Dalton. “ICTCM is the premier
meeting that focuses on the use of technology in the teaching and
learning of collegiate mathematics.”
The conference will cover everything
from the teaching of developmental mathematics to post-calculus,
statistics and liberal arts math. Featured topics will include
distance learning technologies and Web-assisted instruction. The
program will include lecture sessions, hands-on computer
mini-courses, hands-on calculator workshops, and exhibitsR014all
designed to assist and enhance math educators’ courses.
The keynote address, “Changing the
Interface: Technology in Education,” will be given by Mary Grush,
Editor of Syllabus Magazine and Program Director for the
Syllabus Conferences. The presentation will take place on Friday,
November 2, beginning at
8 am.
