Montgomery College to Offer Arts
Extravaganza for Children
One-Day Program for Budding Artists Set for
Saturday, Dec. 8
Montgomery College’s Workforce
Development & Continuing Education unit is offering a one-day “Art
Explosion” enrichment program for second through fourth graders on
Saturday, December 8, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the College’s Takoma
Park Campus. The program is designed to enable students to explore
art topics outside the traditional school curriculum.
Students will select three small
group workshops from among the following: Odyssey in Videography;
Basic Photography; Collagraphs; Come On Everybody, Let’s Sing;
Discover Plants in Nature; Get Off Your Duff and Dance; New Look
Art; Shadow Puppet Theater; The Art of Storytelling; and When Clay
Sings.
Instructors are drawn from the
Montgomery College faculty and staff, Montgomery County Public
Schools, and the Montgomery County community.
Parents can accompany their children
to the workshops at no charge, or attend an optional parent workshop
on charcoal portrait drawing for a small fee.
The fee for this one-day program is
$70; non-Maryland residents add $20. The optional parent workshop
fee is $25, $45 for non-Maryland residents.
