Community Invited To Discuss Post-Enron, Anderson Business Climate
The Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College and the Rockville Chamber of Commerce invite community members to an ethics-in-business symposium Thursday, November 14, from 7–9 p.m. at the Theatre Arts Arena, Montgomery College Rockville Campus, located at 51 Mannakee Street.
U.S Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Donohue, the keynote speaker, and representatives of the business, accounting, and academic communities will discuss ethics and corporate responsibility in a town meeting forum, which begins at 7 p.m. with light refreshments, followed immediately by the program at 7:30 p.m.
Donohue assumed leadership in 1997 of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business lobby, leaving a top position at the American Trucking Association. His initiatives to rally American companies around numerous challenges—worker shortages, legal reforms, free trade issues—have been chronicled prominently in The Washington Post and Industry Week Magazine. He serves on several boards of directors, including those of Qwest, Union Pacific Corporation, XM Satellite Radio, Sunrise Assisted Living Corporation, and Marymount University, and is president of the Center for International Private Enterprise.
The $10 admission charge will benefit the Rockville Scholarship Foundation and other Rockville Chamber activities. Students with ID will be admitted free. For reservations, call the Rockville Chamber of Commerce at 301-424-9300.
