Montgomery College Youth Program Offers
Menu of Courses for Kids of All Ages

             Montgomery College’s Workforce Development & Continuing Education unit offers an extensive array of enrichment courses for students in grades K–12 who want to do something really different this winter and early spring.

            “Kids on Campus,” jointly sponsored with Montgomery County Public Schools Division of Community Outreach, features 11 courses running from February through May:

  • Art Exploration
  • Aggressive Learning
  • American Sign Language
  • Be the Best You Can Be (Leadership skills development)
  • Cartooning
  • Keyboarding for Computers
  • Learn How We’re all Different, but All the Same
  • Learn to Write for Magazines
  • Strengthening of Skills/Learning to Learn
  • Dramatic Reading Circle
  • Saturday Art Workshops

            The Youth Development Institute, designed for students in grades 4–12, offers 11 courses that provide a variety of challenging and broad-based learning experiences:

  • American Sign Language
  • Biology: The Study of Life
  • Creative Writing
  • Discovering van Gogh
  • Easy Essay Writing
  • History of American Poetry
  • History of Foreign Comics
  • How to Publish Fiction
  • Introduction to Spanish
  • Keyboarding and Basic Windows
  • World History: A Bird’s-Eye View

             In addition, a special mathematics enrichment program for students aged 8–17 features eight courses from pre-algebra to SAT preparation. The courses start in late January and run through May.
