for April 30 at Montgomery College-Takoma Park Montgomery College’s Paul Peck Humanities Institute, through its “Books and Ideas” series, will feature fiction writer Teresa Bevin and poet Robert L. Giron in a free public reading Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in the Student Lounge of the Commons Building at the Takoma Park Campus. Teresa Bevin is author of Dreams and Other Ailments/Sueños y otros achaques, which was ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year Bronze Winner for Fiction in Translation. Poet Robert L. Giron is translator of Jesús Gardea’s recently released poetry collection, Canciones para una sola cuerda/Songs for a Single String. Both authors are published by Gival Press and teach at Montgomery College, Takoma Park Campus. “Books and Ideas” is a series of six literary events celebrating the work of local historians, critics, poets, or novelists of influence and stature. In 2002-2003, “Books and Ideas” brought Hilary Tham, Michael Dirda, Lisa Couturier, Naomi Ayala, Robert Giron, Teresa Bevin, and Joyce Reiser Kornblatt to Montgomery College.
