STATEMENT RE:
COUNTY COUNCIL BUDGET
ACTIONS “It’s gratifying to know that even in tremendously difficult fiscal times, our County Council is once again reaffirming its steadfast commitment to education. The Council has demonstrated this both in its effort to restore funding for our public schools and for our community’s college, Montgomery College. Today’s action to restore more than $7 million in funding for the College sends a positive message to the more than 40,000 students annually who have come to rely on the high quality and value of a Montgomery College education. On behalf of our students--who have already been asked themselves to absorb a hefty share of the financial burden, with a second consecutive year of significant tuition increases--I want to sincerely thank the Council for its support.” # # # |
