Presents Free Concerts in September The Music Department of Montgomery College will host a series of free concert performances for the public on its Rockville Campus this September. On Sunday, September 14, at 3 p.m., Montgomery College welcomes the United States Navy Band Brass Quartet. The quartet performs music from the 16th to the 20th centuries at educational institutions throughout the metropolitan area. Chief Musician S. Joe Dollard directs the group, made up of Musicians First Class Stanley Curtis, trumpet; Andrew Oppenheim, tuba; and John Schroeder, trumpet. The concert will be held in the Music Recital Hall, Music Building. On Tuesday, September 23, at 8 p.m., the College will host a jazz concert featuring Chris Vadala, winds; Jake Sheffer, guitar; Ward Harris, bass; and Steve Larrance, drums. With the theme “Old Tunes with New Wrinkles,” the band will perform new twists on jazz standards from other eras. This concert will be held in the Music Recital Hall, Music Building.
