Montgomery College Presents Dawn Avery and CelloVision
Two performances at Takoma Park Campus December 6

Cellist Dawn Avery and CelloVision will perform at Montgomery Collegeís Takoma Park Campus on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., as part of the Arts Alive! series at the Black Box Theater.

Grammy-nominated musician Avery has worked with Sting, Luciano Pavarotti, the New Jersey Symphony,  New York City Opera -- and with her own group CelloVision.  She has developed a signature style, combining elements of world, jazz, folk and classical music. Even with the demands of her concert and recording schedule, Dawn Avery continues to live and work in Montgomery County, where she teaches music at Montgomery College.

The performances at Montgomery College will also feature the musical talents of percussionist Tom McGrath, Ron Warren on flute and drums, and Montgomery College student Kevin Daniels on piano and drums.  Dawn Avery and CelloVision will perform indigenous music from Native America, Africa, and Greece, in a contemporary style.

The two hour-long concerts on Dec. 6, 7 and 9 p.m., will take place at the 100-seat Black Box Theatre located at the corner of Philadelphia Ave. and Chicago Avenue on the Takoma Park Campus of Montgomery College. Tickets cost $15 for General Admission ($12 for groups of 5 or more), $10 for seniors, and $5 for Montgomery College students and faculty. To purchase tickets, call 301-588-4475 or purchase on-line at www.classactsarts.org.
