Montgomery College invites the public to a series of open houses in January to educate the community about the 10-year facilities master plans for each of the College’s three campuses – at Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park. These open houses will provide general information about new facilities, improvements and renovations planned for each of the campuses.
The open house for the Takoma Park Campus facilities master plan will be held on Wednesday, January 14 at 7 p.m., in the Bliss Room. The room is located in the Commons Building, 7600 Takoma Avenue, Takoma Park. Among the highlights of the Takoma Park Campus plan are the second and third phases of the current expansion effort. In addition to phase I -- a new Health Sciences Center on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, which is set to open this January -- the project includes the opening of a pedestrian bridge that will span the Metro/CSX rail tracks and connect the new facility with the existing Takoma Park Campus; a new Student Services Center along Fenton Street; and a new Cultural Arts Center at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and East-West Highway.
The 10-year facilities master plan for the Germantown Campus will be highlighted at the open house on Thursday, January 15 at 7 p.m. The location of the meeting will be Globe Hall in the High Technology and Science Center, 20200 Observation Drive, Germantown.
Among the projects on the horizon for the Germantown Campus is a planned 40-acre science and technology business park that will be developed in conjunction with a new biotechnology education center.
The final open house will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. to present the plan for the Rockville Campus. The meeting will be in the Theatre Arts Arena, Theatre Arts Building, Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee Street. Prospective future facilities at the Rockville Campus include a new science center, a parking garage and an expansion of the Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education.
