MC Continuing Education Program Cited
as National Leader in Lifelong Training

The Montgomery College Continuing Education Unit recently received the designation "Certified Program" by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), an international association in lifelong learning. With the certification, MCís program was recognized as one of the nationís best continuing education programs.

The award will be presented during the International Awards Ceremony at the LERN Annual Convention in Toronto on December 4, 1998. As part of the awards ceremony, Continuing Education representatives will be recognized by more than 1,000 of their colleagues in lifelong learning around the world.

"The Certified Program designation is a standard of achievement in the knowledge and understanding of lifelong learning and the running of a continuing education unit," noted LERN President William Draves. "By becoming a Certified Program, the Montgomery College Continuing Education Unit has helped to professionalize the field of educational programming."

The LERN Program Review and Audit included a self-assessment, the gathering and evaluation of key performance criteria, surveys of instructors, participants, and staff, and an on-site visit by LERN professionals. The Montgomery College Continuing Education Unit was rated as a leader and model for other continuing education programs.

LERN, headquartered in Manhattan, KS, has more than 5,000 members in eight countries.
