Montgomery College Seeks To Fill Two Board of Trustees Seats
Montgomery College is seeking applicants to fill two seats on the Colleges Board of Trustees for posts that would become available on July 1, 2000. The persons selected would serve a six-year term.
The Board of Trustees is the governance body for Montgomery College, which enrolls approximately 21,000 students at campuses in Rockville, Germantown and Takoma Park. An additional 23,000 students are enrolled in the Colleges Continuing Education programs.
Members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Governor of the State of Maryland, based on the recommendation of a five-person nominating committee of local residents. With the exception of a student Board member, the Governors appointments are also subject to confirmation by the State Senate.
Persons who wish to be considered for a Trustee position may not be employed by the College. Applicants must attend a one-hour orientation session at Montgmery College before being interviewed by the nominating committee. Trustees devote in excess of 240 hours per year as a Board member and receive no compensation.
County residents interested in serving on the MC Board of Trustees should send a letter of intent and a resume to the chair of the nominating committee, Dr. Robert C. Maddox, 10400 Democracy Lane, Potomac, Maryland 20854-4036. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, October 12 at 5 p.m.
