Nobel Laureate Dr. William Phillips recently visited
Montgomery
College to share his ground-breaking research into laser
trapping and cooling. Dr. Phillips, a physicist at the National Institute
of Standards and Technology, shared the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics with
Stanford
University’s Steven Chu and Claude Cohen-Tannoudji from
France.

Montgomery College has been selected as one of the first institutions in the nation to replicate a successful program, created at Oregon’s Portland Community College, aimed at helping young people between the ages of 16 and 20, who have either stopped going to school or those on the verge of dropping out, complete high school and receive college credit.
