Dr. Judy Ackerman, vice president and provost at Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus, has been selected as one of Washington SmartCEO magazine’s “Brava! Women Business Achievement” Award winners. The winners will be honored July 16, from 6-8 p.m., at the Tower Companies in Rockville, located at 2000 Tower Oaks Blvd. They will also be profiled in the July issue of the magazine. The Brava! Women Business Achievement Awards celebrate 25 women who are active leaders and role models, believe in building companies that are resources, and who provide services that people can and will rely upon. The award is also based on community involvement through philanthropic acts. Dr. Ackerman has served her current post since 2003. During more than 30 years of service at the College, she has served as a professor of mathematics, Collegewide honors coordinator, Math Center coordinator, chair of mathematics, and instructional dean of science, engineering and mathematics. Dr. Ackerman is a board member of Rockville Economic Development, Inc. and served on the Rockville Mayor’s Transition Advisory Group in 2008. She served as honorary co-chair of the American Cancer Society’s 2008 Relay for Life, held on the Rockville Campus. She is also a volunteer for activities of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. For more information about SmartCEO and the Brava!
