News Release Date: November 3, 2008 Montgomery College Names New Vice President of Institutional Advancement
EDITORS: For a photo to accompany this press release, click here. As vice president, Berman will oversee the areas of alumni, development, marketing, public relations, and special events. He will join Montgomery College on November 24, 2008. Berman has worked in higher education for more than 30 years, which includes experience as an administrator at the Community College of Baltimore County and Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, located in Toronto, Canada. He most recently served as the vice president for institutional advancement at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Baltimore, Md. While at CCBC, Berman helped reorganize the Institutional Advancement Division. He increased annual fundraising and cultivated partnerships with local businesses that led to support for students and academic programs. In addition, he created a new CCBC Foundation and oversaw the consolidation of CCBC’s three alumni organizations into one CCBC Alumni Association. At Seneca College, Berman held various administrative positions, which included co-executive director of the Seneca College Foundation, director of alumni development, and chair and director of the native studies program. Among his achievements were the development of a $16 million campus fundraising campaign, the creation of an alumni association, and the implementation of a government relations program. Berman holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Manitoba. |
