Tina Tibbs Receives National Dean’s List Scholarship

Tina Tibbs, a student at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, has been named a recipient of the 2005 Phi Theta Kappa National Dean’s List Scholarship.  Tibbs, a Washington, D.C. resident, is one of 55 community college students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands, selected for this scholarship.

The National Dean’s List is a prestigious compilation of honor students in two-year and four-year degree programs. By virtue of membership in Phi Theta Kappa, all new inductees are automatically nominated for the National Dean’s List. All 55 recipients of the National Dean’s List Scholarship are chosen by random search to receive a $250 scholarship.

“The National Dean’s List Scholarship rewards students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to improving their communities,” explains Rod A. Risley, Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director.  “Tina exemplifies the outstanding students enrolled not only at Montgomery College, but at community colleges everywhere.”

Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious honor society serving two-year and community colleges in all 50 of the United States, Canada, Germany, and U.S. territorial possessions. Approximately 100,000 students are inducted annually in the Society’s 1,200 chapters.
