Montgomery College Seeks Two New Trustees
Applicant Materials Due by January 15

Montgomery College seeks to fill two positions on its Board of Trustees.  The applicants selected will serve six-year terms starting July 1, 2006.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body for Montgomery College, a public, open admissions community college with campuses in Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring, plus workforce development/continuing education centers and off-site programs throughout Montgomery County, Md.  The College serves more than 55,000 students a year, through both credit and noncredit programs, in more than 100 areas of study.

Persons who wish to be considered for a trustee position must be residents of Montgomery County and may not be employed by the College in any capacity.  Applicants must attend a one-hour orientation session at Montgomery College before being interviewed by the nominating committee.  Trustees devote more than 240 hours per year as board members and receive no compensation.

Board members are appointed by the Governor, upon recommendation of a five-person nominating committee. With the exception of the student Board member, the Governor’s appointments are subject to State Senate confirmation.

Persons interested in serving on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees should submit a letter of intent and a resume, together with any supporting references or other documentation by e-mail, to the Chair of the Nominating Committee, Dr. Robert C. Maddox, no later than 5 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2006.  A telephone number and e-mail address should be included.

Please send materials by e-mail to: RbtCMaddox@aol.com.  Additional information about the nominating process is available from Dr. Maddox at 301-365-9051 or Arlean Graham in the Montgomery College Board Office at 301-251-7120.
