Portfolio Development

Most students who apply to the School of Art + Design directly out of high school use the work from their high school art classes for their portfolio review. Check the list of work included in our portfolio guidelines.

If you're wondering if you have enough work or the "right" work, make an appointment to come in for feedback, you can always return for a second review if necessary. Contact the School of Art + Design Admissions Office at 240-649-4454 or e-mail david.epstein@montgomerycollege.edu to set up a time for a portfolio review.

If you think you would like to add a few pieces to your portfolio, consider taking a Portfolio Development course [link to the Pre-college/Portfolio development part of the Continuing Education page]. The Portfolio Development course will provide you the opportunity to create several drawing pieces and guidance on developing a sketchbook. If Portfolio Development is your first experience with drawing, you should try to create additional pieces outside of the class time to fill out your portfolio work for review by SA+D or other college-level art programs.
