Help with Writing Assignments for All Courses - HU 002
Are you a Montgomery College student taking a course that requires writing -- such as History, Political Science, Biology, Math, World Literature or Criminal Justice? If you are, you can talk about your assignment with a professional writing tutor in HU 002. Students taking any MC class are welcome!
The writing tutors in HU 002 will discuss your work as it develops, giving you feedback about your paper’s strengths and weaknesses. With your tutor, you can address different aspects of your writing, such as organization, development, thesis, wording, and mechanics. In addition, the tutors can suggest writing tips, web sites, and computer exercises that will help you improve your English writing skills. Please note that your tutor will not correct your paper for you, but help you discover how to improve your writing on your own.
What to Bring to Your Tutoring Session
You can expect a meeting of thirty minutes. Before you start the session, give your tutor any information you have about your writing assignment: an assignment sheet from your professor, an outline, paper drafts or a textbook. You’ll also give the tutor your tutoring session sheet, which you can fill out in advance or when you sign in.
At the end of the session, you will leave your tutoring session sheet with the tutor, who will write some notes about your work together, and, with your permission, will send the session sheet to your professor.
How to Sign Up for Writing Tutoring
Come to HU 002, and sign up at the front desk for a thirty-minute tutoring session. Carefully fill out your tutoring session sheet, and wait until a tutor calls your name.
For more information, you may ask any tutor or staff member for assistance.
