Reading Tutoring - HU 002 and MT 020
Are you a Montgomery College student taking an RD course? You can go to either HU 002 or to MT 020 to review your Reading assignments with a professional faculty tutor.
Your reading tutor will help you improve your English reading skills, including your reading comprehension (understanding what you read), and vocabulary. For example, you can practice locating the main idea, the supporting details, or the thesis of a reading passage with a tutor’s help. The tutor can also suggest ideas that will help you write better summaries.
In addition, tutors may show you reading tips, web sites, and computer exercises that will help you improve your English reading skills. You can also use the HU 002 Reading Room to practice your reading skills on your own.
Please note that your tutor will not correct your reading homework or write a summary for you, but will give you strategies for completing your work on your own.
What to Bring to Your Reading Tutoring Session
Bring your reading assignment, book and/or textbook, assignment sheet from class, homework assignments, and any other information. Before you start the session, give your tutor any information you have about your reading assignment, including the reading passage or text, an assignment sheet from your professor, the homework questions, or your textbook. You can expect a meeting of up to thirty minutes.
