Admissions
The Surgical Technology Program will admit 18 students each session.
Admission to Montgomery College is open to all; however to ensure objective admittance to all applicants interested to the Surgical Technologist Program, an admission procedure has been established. Please completely follow the following application steps to assure your admittance to the Surgical Technologist Program.

Admission to Montgomery College is open to all. Students who are interested in applying for consideration of acceptance into the Surgical Technology program must satisfy the following prerequisites:
Students must

be eligible to take or have already taken College level English (EN 101 or higher)

be eligible to take or have already taken college level Math (MA110 or higher)

NEW!!! have successfully completed BI 107 or equivalent at another college. (For Fall 2007 applicants those who have already taken BI 101 do not have to take BI 107)

a minimum GPA of 2.5 based on the last 24 college credits or high school transcript

If EN101 and MA Foundation or equivalent has not been completed contact the assessment testing center for testing times and procedures. After you have taken the tests, check the recommended courses. If your scores are not at the eligibility level necessary, please meet with the Health Science Counselor located in the Health Science Center for advising on your specific course of action (240-567-5522).

Beginning with the Fall 2008 class, health science admissions for the fall will be based on courses completed and grades earned through the prior fall semester only.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
PRIORITY CONSIDERATION FOR PLACEMENT INTO THE PROGRAM WILL BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING CLASSES:
BIOLOGY 204 BIOLOGY 205 HI 125 EN 101
THOSE APPLICANTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED ANY OR ALL OF THE ABOVE CLASSES WILL BE RANKED BY GPA AND WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY OVER THOSE STUDENTS WHO HAVE ONLY COMPLETED THE PREREQUISITES AND GENERAL EDUCATION CLASSES THAT ARE NOT PART OF THE SG PROGRAM.
There is no priority consideration to county residents.
In addition, all perspective candidates must fill out a Montgomery College Health Sciences Application. This application is available at all three campuses

ALL INTERESTED STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE prior to submitting a Health Science Application.
TRANSFERRING CREDITS FROM ANOTHER COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Students transferring credits from another institution within the United States should attach an OFFICIAL transcript to the Health Science Application. Please DO NOT break the seal on this transcript when applying to the program
TRANSFERRING CREDITS FROM ANOTHER COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES
Those students who attending a university outside of the United States will need to have their college transcript evaluated by an outside institution. Please contact the counseling department for further information.
Financial aid and scholarships are available to qualified candidates.
For each course offering, this procedure will be reinstituted and applicants who were not admitted will need to reapply.
