BRIDGING Takoma Park and Silver Spring
TAKOMA PARK/SILVER SPRING CAMPUS EXPANSION

A New Beginning for Montgomery College's First Campus

The College is in the midst of a major project that looms by far as the most significant of the last quarter century -- the $88 million expansion of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus extends the campus into the heart of south Silver Spring along the Georgia Avenue corridor. The project marks the single largest capital venture for the College since the creation of the Germantown Campus in the 1970s and is widely seen as a vital component of the revitalization of downtown Silver Spring.

The oldest and smallest of the College's three primary campuses, Takoma Park/Silver Spring has long been filled to capacity and virtually unable to grow, due to its close proximity to residential neighborhoods and nearby industrial facilities. Situated on approximately 12 acres, the existing campus serves well over 6,000 students on a site that compares in size to that of a typical Montgomery County elementary school property.

Thanks to the outstanding support of the County and the State, the campus has acquired nearby properties, and has embarked on a phased expansion.

To be constructed over a six-year span will be:
