In addition to constructing new buildings, the College is renovating existing infrastructure as part of the campus expansion.  The old Giant bakery situated between the Health Sciences Center and the soon to open Takoma Park/Silver Spring Performing Arts Center was transformed into The Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center.   This building is home to the Visual Arts Department, the School of Art + Design, and the campus computer support system.  The Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center has 20 spaces for local artists to rent at reduced cost.  There is a 350 car garage located at this facility. The addition of this center sparked a 22% growth surge in the visual arts discipline enrollment between the 2006/2007 and the 2007/2008 academic years.
