How to Apply
- Schedule and make three visits to Montgomery County middle and/or high school(s). (Note: if you have experience as a substitute teacher or a paraeducator in MCPS, this meets the requirement). See ACET Application, part II Essay Questions for more information.
- Schedule Praxis I and Praxis II exams and have official score reports sent to Montgomery College. Passing Praxis I (or other state approved basic skills test) and Praxis II content exam scores are required prior to acceptance into the ACET program. See Testing/Praxis for further details.
- Have official college transcripts sent to Montgomery College with coursework, credit hours, overall GPA and date of completion of Bachelor’s (and graduate degree, if applicable). If your degree is from a foreign institution outside the U.S., you must submit an evaluation of it from one of the MSDE-approved agencies
- Submit the following documents:
- A completed ACET Application.
- A Statement responding to the essay questions which are part of the application.
- A résumé including employment history and educational background, with emphasis on any experiences in teaching or work that would enhance your abilities to teach adolescents.
- An Applicant Evaluation Registration Form including non-refundable $50.00 fee, payable by credit card or check made to “Montgomery College”.
- Two references from former / current employers mailed directly to Montgomery College School of Education.
Please make a copy of all the application forms and transcripts for your records.
For priority review, submit the application by September 15th.
After consideration by the Selection Committee, candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview. Interviews will be held in October and November.
