Food Manager Certification & Licensing

Montgomery College Partnership for Food Safety Education provides approved courses for industry professionals, and consumers. We work with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services to provide Food Manager Recertification exams and the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation's (NRAEF) ServSafe Food Manger courses in support of educating and protecting against bacteria that exist within a food environment.

Course Offerings Include:

• Food Service Recertification (for certified/licensed food managers)
• Food Safety Certification - ServSafe, NRAEF (to become licensed food manager)
• Exam Retake - ServSafe

Montgomery County requires that a Certified Food Service Manager be on site during food service operations at all food service facilities. The Certified Food Service Manager must have full control over sanitation and preparation prodedures, and supervise other food service employees in these areas.

Food Service Managers must pass an approved 16-hour certification course, and must file an application with the local health department to obtain a Certified Food Service Manager photo application card. A standard passport-type photo and a $45.00 processing fee must be submitted with each application to the Montgomery County DHHS. The certification is valid for three (3) years.
