Truck Driver Training (CDL)

Montgomery College has teamed up with All-State Career to offer Commercial Driver Licensing training. Classroom and behind-the-wheel driving instruction will prepare you for a CDL Class A or Class B with passenger endorsement certification. On completion of training students will be able to pick up, carry, and deliver items over long and short distances; perform pre-trip inspections, secure cargo, and maintain safe operation of the vehicle.

Please take note of the Program Procedures , as some of them differ slightly from the regular Open Enrollment classes you might take at Montgomery College.

Industry Outlook
CDL-Class A (tractor-trailor) graduates go on to drive tractor-trailers for both short-haul and long-haul deliveries and can earn up to $20 per hour with experience.
CDL-Class B (straight truck / bus) graduates go on to drive straight trucks, dump trucks, motor coaches, limousines, school buses, truck buses, mini coaches, and can earn up to $16 per hour with experience.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Educational Outlook Handbook, the demand for professional truck drivers is growing. There is a shortage of approximately 20,000 drivers in the U.S. annually. Competition is fierce for jobs offering the highest earnings or most favorable work schedules. See a video of the Today Show's Meredith Viera as she does a feature story on commercial Truck Driving. (Be patient, it takes a moment to upload).
