The Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR) is a 54 hour training series developed by Maryland Committee for Children for early childhood educators through a grant funded by The Maryland State Department of Education. The training is designed for child care providers who are interested in improving the quality of their child care/early education setting. The training focuses on techniques for observing and documenting individual children’s progress in major learning domains, specifically, personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical and scientific thinking, social studies, arts, and physical development. The Pearson Work Sampling System will be used as a tool for assessment in early childhood settings. This class assists teachers to truly know children and their families and to plan meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning opportunities on a daily basis.
Scholarship opportunity! If you qualify, Montgomery College's Workforce Development & Continuing Education has scholarship money available, up to $1,000.00 for tuition and fees, for Early Childhood Education Training. See Career Path, WD&CE Scholarship Opportunity for more information.
