Available Web
Accounts
- The College's Internet
site, http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/,
should be used to provide information and services for the public which
are also useful to College employees. There are four different kinds
of web accounts for MC Internet site:
- Edu Departmental
Accounts are for academic departments, administrative offices,
committees and groups to distribute information on the College's
Internet site. All full time faculty and permanent staff can be the
Content Managers for Edu Departmental Accounts. All Department Websites
should be listed on Department
Index at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/Departments/
- Edu Individual
Accounts are for individuals to distribute information on
the College's Internet site. All full time faculty, part time faculty,
and permanent staff are eligible for requesting Edu Individual Accounts.
All Individual Websites should be listed on Faculty
Index at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/faculty/
- Faculty
Website Template Accounts are for faculty to use Faculty
Website Template to generate a basic website on the College's
Internet site. All full time and part time faculty are eligible for
requesting Faculty Website Template Accounts. All Faculty Websites
generated with Faculty Website Template should be listed on Faculty
Index at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/faculty/
- My Space
Accounts serve the same purpose as EDU Individual Accounts but
can be password protected upon requests, which means a pop up box
will appear requesting username and password for a specific My Space
site even when used in conjunction with My MC. All full time faculty,
part time faculty, and permanent staff are eligible for requesting
My Space Accounts. My Space Account is needed only when you want
to password protect your web pages. You will need to submit work
orders to IT Helpdesk at
(240-567-)x7222 to request or update the password for your My Space
site. My Space sites can NOT be listed on the Faculty
Index at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/faculty/,
you can link it from your Individual Website or your Faculty Website
generated with Faculty Website Template.
- The College's intranet
site, http://www.mcinfonet.org/,
which is accessed after logging into MyMC, contains information and services for the operation of the College
or for internal College communications and services. There are only one
kind of web accounts for MCInfonet site:
- MCInfonet
Departmental Accounts are for offices, departments, committees
to communicate with faculty, staff and administrators. All full time
faculty and permanent staff can be the Content Managers for MCInfonet
Departmental Accounts. All Department Websites should be listed on MCInfonet
Table of Contents at http://www.mcinfonet.org/toc.html
- Web4students site
provides instructors and students the environment for courses where the
learning objectives are predominantly web technology related, and a substantial
portion of course assignments are posted to a web server. There are two
kinds of web accounts for Web4students site:
- Courses Accounts -
Please send requests to set up courses with access for instructors
and students through your Department Chair.
- Web4Students
Individual Accounts are for faculty (both full time and part
time) who teach Web4students courses to use as working directories.

Who Can Apply For A Web Account?
All full-time & part-time
faculty and full-time staff are eligible to sign up for web accounts.
The person applying for the account is called the "Content Manager" and
they
will
have certain
responsibilities for the account which are outlined below.

Web Content Managers Responsibilities
Web accounts must have
a continuing faculty or staff member named as the Content Manager
of the account. The Content Manager: (1) is the main point of contact;
(2) is responsible to maintain and update the site; (3) is the only person
who can apply for a password reset for this account (see
below);
(4) is responsible to inform
IT if the account is no longer needed (see
below);
(5) will be the only person to be contacted by the IT Web Group about
this account;
(6)
will also be expected
to
ensure the acceptable
use of
this account.
Content Managers are
encouraged to review and be familiar with the MC's
Web Standards before starting web development at MC. All web pages
accessible through MC's internet website must comply with MC's
Web Standards.

How To Apply For A Web Account?
Web
Account Request Form — Fill out online then print form,
sign and date (Dean's or Administrator's signature
is also required)
then mail to IT Web Group. Please see submission
procedure for more instructions on how to submit your form. By
submitting this form,
the applicant is agreeing to abide by the Montgomery College Acceptable
Use of Information Technology Resources.

How To Change or Reset Web Account Password?
If you want to change
or reset your password, please submit a work order to the IT
Helpdesk at 240-567-7222 or via e-mail
at ithelpdesk@montgomerycollege.edu.
Password requests will only be accepted from the Content Manager or their
Dean or
Adminstrator. Please be sure to provide the URL of your website.

How To Change Web Account Ownership?
To transfer ownership of
an existing web account, the current Content Manager or their Dean/Adminstrator
must send a request to the IT Helpdesk at 240-567-7222 or
via e-mail at ithelpdesk@montgomerycollege.edu stating the URL of the website, who
currently
owns the site and the name of the new Content Manager.
If the Content Manager
moves to another unit or is no longer working for the Collge, the department
Adminstrator or Dean must replace them with a
new
Content
Manager.
The
new Content
Manager must also be a faculty or staff member.

To delete a web account, please submit a work order
