Web Tools

  • Web Pages Editor: The standard Web pages editor in the College is Microsoft FrontPage. Netscape Composer is another useful web page editor. Please call IT Helpdesk at 240-567-7222 for installation of Microsoft FrontPage and Netscape Composer in your PC.
    • Department and Individual account holders that develop web pages must not use the Microsoft FrontPage Publish feature to transfer documents to the Montgomery College website. We recommend that the freeware File Transfer Protocol program WS-FTP be used instead.
  • File Transfer Protocol: The standard file transfer protocol software for Web pages in the College is WS_FTP Home. E-mail or call IT Helpdesk at 240-567-7222 for installation of WS_FTP Home in your PC.

You may click on WS_FTP Home User Instructions

  • Web browser: The standard Web browser in the College is Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Please view your web pages with both browsers before you post them in the Internet. E-mail or call IT Helpdesk at 240-567-7222 for installation of Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer in your PC.

  • A-Prompt (Accessibility Prompt) version 1.0.6 is a software program designed to improve web site accessibility for people with various disabilities by evaluating web pages for accessibility, and making repairs to correct problems. This version is configured to meet many of the MC Accessibility Standards. For more information about A-Prompt please refer to the MC Web Content Managers Handbook Document in MS Word Format - Instructions on how to access Word documents if you don't have MS Word or visit the A-Prompt website.

  • Faculty Website Template allows faculty to easily build a basic web site without requiring FTP or HTML skills, but instead uses pull-down menus and fill-in boxes.
