What is Podcasting?

The delivery of audio files on the Internet through RSS feeds. Podcasting is made possible by RSS feeds, which deliver audio content when a user subscribes to them. The audio content is available on demand - people can listen to it when they want, where they want, and how they want.

The distribution of video in a similar manner is called "vodcasting"

Example: nbc4.com

How does a podcast differ from MP3 files posted on the Web for download?

With a podcast, files are updated automatically without interference by the user.

Compare Podcasting with "Broadcasting"
