General Information

BI 205 lab is designed to provide the student with a hands on experience in learning the anatomical structures as they relate to their functions.  This weekly lab time is MANDATORY.

Lab activities are designed to be completed by the student.  Students are expected to actively participate in all lab activities.  All lab exercises must be reviewed prior to lab time.  In addition, anatomic structures must be studied in text illustrations, online and Adam Interactive Anatomy (AIA) in the Math Science Center in Science North (SN 101) prior to their scheduled in-class lab time.

Lab activities will be completed over the fifteen week spring session.  There will be weekly lab quizzes and five lab practicals (see dates below).  The quizzes are designed to help reinforce the materials.

The lab will be held at the Takoma Park Campus in Science North, Room 209.  Labs will meet on Fridays from 12:00 – 3:20 p.m.

Lab Practical Rules

Each lab practical examination will consist of a series of laboratory stations.  Each station will consist of a lab item (slide, anatomical model, picture, dissected specimen, et cetera) and questions about that lab item.  You will have approximately 90 seconds to complete the questions at a station.  You will not be allowed to return to any station.  No personal items will be allowed at the laboratory stations.  All items must be stored on the side laboratory tables.  Your laboratory answer sheets must be folded at all times during the exam.  All laboratory answers must be spelled correctly.  You will lose points for incorrectly spelled terms.  Gross spelling errors will be graded as wrong.  Examples are:  veinicle for ventricle; fiba for fimbria; ilium for ileum.  Minor spelling errors will lose .5 points.  Examples are: duodanum for duodenum; epididimiss for epididymus.
