NEURAL INTEGRATION

1. State the function of the autonomic nervous system.

2. Differentiate between the general functions of the two divisions of the autonomic nervous system. 

3. Explain dual innervation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic (also see p. 525).

4. Describe the effects of the sympathetic nervous system during exercise.

5. As summarized in the attached lecture notes and table 14.4 in your text, compare and contrast the effects of the parasympathetic and sympathetic  nervous systems on the pupils, glands, heart, bladder and urethra, lungs, digestive tract organs, penis and clitoris.

6. List the effects of aging on the autonomic nervous system.

7. Differentiate between sensation and perception.

8. Define modality and explain how your nervous system can distinguish between various modalities.

9. Describe epileptic seizures.  The exam will not ask you to differentiate between the types.
