Anatomy & Physiology I (BI 204) provides a detailed study of the structure and function of the body, including tissues, skin, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, and sense organs. The Human Anatomy and Physiology student will be able to identify all assigned body parts and explain their physiological mechanisms. The student will be able to explain how life is maintained by integrating the body's structural design with its function. The student will be able to apply the information provided by this course to analyze and explain new situations involving the human body. Course objectives for the online version of BI 204 are the same as for the traditional version of BI 204. The distance learning version utilizes the same objectives, lecture notes, textbooks, supplemental material (including A.D.A.M. Interactive Anatomy and A.D.A.M. Interactive Physiology), and has the same laboratory requirements. Course requirements and expectations are
the same regardless of whether students are distance learners or traditional
students. The learning environment, however, is different. Anatomy &
Physiology I online students attend a mandatory orientation session at the
beginning of the course and attend weekly mandatory in-class lab sessions.
These in-class lab sessions are part of the required weekly lab hours for
this course. All lecture exams are taken at the
