Galaxies

Like the northern sky, the southern sky contains many beautiful galaxies for all sizes of instruments, from the naked eye, through to the largest telescopes. Without a doubt, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds take centre stage. These are large enough and bright enough to be visible to the naked eye even in moonlight. Northern observers who see them for the first time never fail to be amazed! However there are scores of others that make for wonderful viewing. This page contains only those I made on my most recent visits home. Many others can be found in the main galaxies page.
