National Museum of Women in the Arts
Official site of this outstanding museum dedicated to bringing recognition to the achievements of women artists of all periods and nationalities. Includes exhibit information, research and library information, community programs and more.

New Hall Art Collection
New Hall, a Cambridge Univesity women's college, has a collection of art by contemporary women artists. The collection is featured on this site, including an extensive online catalog with images and descriptions of works of art in the collection, and a virtual gallery.

WARC Gallery
Women's Art Resource Centre in Toronto. Began as a facility used by artists, curators, writers, publishers, filmmakers, educators and students, and developed a Curatorial Research Library. The WARC Gallery opened in 1998. WARC also hosts public discussions and professional development workshops and conferences.

Exhibitions

Beyond the Picket Fence
The exhibition Beyond the Picket Fence: Australian women's art in the National Library of Australia was held from 8th March to 4th June 1995. It was opened on the twentieth anniversary of International Women's Day and was one of more than one hundred exhibitions held in Australia in 1995 to celebrate women's activities and creativity.

Crossing the Threshold
An exhibition at the University of Albany in 1999 featuring 32 women artists, running in age from 70 to 95 years. Biographical information on each artist is maintained, along with images of the art and a virtual walk through the exhibit.

W O M E N H O U S E
A site that explores the politics of domesticity and gender relations through virtual "rooms" and conceptual domestic "spaces" by 24 artists, architects, poets, art historians, and cultural theorists, inspired by the 1972 groundbreaking feminist project Womanhouse.

African American Women Artists: A Selected Annotated Bibliography
Part of the online Encyclopedia Smithsonian, this reading list is a section of the African American History and Culture resources site. Developed in response to frequently requested information from the Smithsonian and prepared by the Anacostia Museum Education Office.

Artsy
A print and online magazine, as well as an editorial collective of women artists. The site features women's art from a feminist perspective and promotes emerging and established women artists and writers.

A combination magazine and interactive discussion session for feminists interested in art, visual culture, art history, criticism and artmaking. This site includes featured artists, news, discussion forums and more, dedicated to interdisciplinary exploration of visual culture.

American Academy of Women Artists
The official Web site of the American Academy of Women Artists, which is "a fellowship of dedicated, professional artists striving to promote quality and integrity in the presentation of their artwork. The organization is committed to increasing the growth and awareness of its members in the visual arts." Includes information about Academy membership as well as a "showroom" of featured artists.

ArtTable
ArtTable is a national membership organization for professional women in leadership positions in the visual arts. Members are from a broad range of visual arts professions including museum directors and curators, gallery owners and private dealers, foundation and corporate arts funders, and more. This official organization Web site includes information about sponsored internships, chapter programs, job listings, and links to other art resources.

Guerrilla Girls
The Guerrilla Girls are a group of women artists, writers, performers, film makers and arts professionals who fight discrimination. They use humor to convey information, provoke discussion, and show that feminists can be funny.

IRIS: The Women's Photography Project
An organization at Staffordshire University created to "recognise the valuable contribution made by women practitioners to the development of photographic theory and practice, through research into and promotion of the work of contemporary women photographers and women writing on photography."

National Women's Caucus for Art
The Women's Caucus for Art, founded in 1972, is a national organization unique in its multidisciplinary, multicultural membership of artists, art historians, students and educators, gallery and museum professionals, and others involved in the visual arts. This site provides information about membership, governance, programs and resources.

Women in Photography International
Founded in 1981, Women In Photography International is a non-profit, outreach organization, which promotes the visibility of women photographers and their work. The site includes the quarterly publication f2 eZine, information about WIPI sponsored juried exhibitions, members links and links to other resources.

The Women's World On-Line!
An electronic art networking project originally established for the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995 (Beijing). The site currently showcases imagery by over 1000 professional artists from 64 countries.

Brief biographical and exhibit information on over 130 Canadian women artists. Some artists are represented with graphics, a personal essay and bibliographic information as well.

ArtCyclopedia: Women Artists
Searchable database of artists with links to online museum images of fine art. The section on women artists is fairly comprehensive. Although the links are to free images, this is a commercial site also advertises related prints and posters for sale.

MyStudios: Women in Art
MyStudios.com offers links to many artists' works for educational purposes. The Women in Art section includes brief biographical information for each artist listed, along with a sampling of images and links to other sites.

Varo Registry of Women Artists
This registry of contemporary international women artists provides a personal web page of images, background information, and artist's statement for each member. The site is designed for educational use by the fine art and commercial art worlds, and the general public to introduce works by contemporary women artists. Women Environmental Artists Directory
This is a directory of women arts professionals concerned with environmental issues. Included in the directory is work in bioregionalism, environmental education, eco-feminism, eco-spirituality, and healing. Listing in the hard copy directory is free, and all directory artists are listed by name on the Web site. Web links to images are available for a one-time fee.
