ATTENDANCE
Your regular attendance in class is expected, encouraged, and critical to your successful completion of the course. You will be dropped from the class without further notice if your absences are excessive.

CLASSROOM COURTESY
It's very important and more than simply being polite. Courtesy to your instructor and fellow students helps create an atmosphere where learning can take place; interruptions hinder learning.  Please be on time to each class, turn off your cell phone, and plan on staying and participating in the full class period.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABILITIES

A student who may need an accommodation due to a disability should make an appointment to see me during my office hours. A letter from Disability Support Services (122 CAB) authorizing your accommodations will be needed.

CALCULATOR
All MA 280 students are required to have a programmable graphing calculator. I prefer that you have the Texas Instruments TI-89; the Math Department also supports the TI-83/83+/84. Other calculators may be suitable, but the student bears the responsibility for knowing how to program and operate them.

BAD WEATHER

If driving conditions are hazardous because of poor weather, make safety your first concern. At the same time, you are expected to make your best effort to come to class unless the College is officially closed.  Listen to the radio and TV or log onto the MC homepage www.montgomerycollege.edu for news of delays or closing.  If classes are canceled the day a test or quiz is scheduled, be prepared to take the exam as soon as our class meets once the College reopens.

FINAL EXAM
A 2-hour final exam is required of all students, given according to the schedule published in the Fall 2005 Credit Schedule: Thursday, December 15, 10:15 am - 12:15 pm in our classroom.  (Friday Dec 9 is the last day of regular classes.)

COURSE GRADES
Your pre-final (test) average will be the points you have earned on the major exams (plus any other assignments), divided by the total number of points possible.  If your final exam score exceeds your lowest major score, then that one score will be replaced by the final exam score in figuring your test average.

Your final exam score will then be compared to your test average:
If your final exam is the lower score, then the final counts 25% of your course grade.
If your final exam is the higher score, then it counts at least 50% of your course grade.

GRADING SCALE
A(90-100%)      B(80-89%)     C(70-79%)     D(60-69%)     F(0-59%)
