As we discussed in the library instruction session, here are some reminders about how to locate the articles you need for your assignment. Go to the library's homepage, find the link for MC Library Catalog, and set "Select Search Type" to Keyword Anywhere. Enter one of the examples below:

When you see an item that appeals to you, click on the title. CAUTION: Some of the items on your list may be videos or musical recordings.

Request Book From Another Campus: Go into MC Library Catalog and use the REQUEST ITEM button at the top of the page.
Renew Books Online: Go into MC Library Catalog and use the MY ACCOUNT button at the top of the page.

Countries & Their Cultures

Use the "eTable of Contents" to search by country. Contains information about social customs, celebrations, ceremonies, and etiquette.

Gale Encyclopedia of Multicultural America

Again, use the "eTable of Contents" to search by country. Even though this is about groups of people from other countries who live in the United States, there is lots of information about cultures, customs, and societies.

Here are a few databases (collections of digitized articles) that will contain general articles on any topic related to politeness or courtesy:

SIRS Knowledge Source

Select "Keyword/Natural Language" before entering your search expression.

National Newspapers

Enter search expression in "Basic Search" field.

Academic Search Premier

Enter search expression in "Find" field and put checkmark in "Full Text" box. Results can be limited to Magazines or Newspapers from the bar at the top.

Countries & Their Cultures

Use the "eBook Index" to locate articles about differnt countries. Or, do a "Quick Search": Put a check in the "within this publication" box and type in the name of your country in the "Find" box.

Military & Government Collection

Enter search expression in "Find" field and put checkmark in "Full Text" box.

Remember to use the print button inside the database screen, and that results from any of these searches may be sorted by date (most recent first) or relevance (highest occurrence of keywords). Here are some sample searches using keywords (they tend to be nouns) and Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT):
