3. DATABASES: COLLECTIONS OF DIGITIZED ARTICLES
African American Newspapers: The 19th Century
Somewhat clunky interface; will accept Boolean search expressions, but will not allow you to re-sort by relevance; results are listed by newspaper, and within that by date; can't use ENTER button as search button; must select each newspaper on opening page before conducting search.
Ethnic NewsWatch
   search on "u street" here!
Focus on covering "minority press," both ethnic and gender; see PUBLICATIONS tab for an idea of which journals, magazines, and newspapers are included.
History Resource Center: U.S.
Use Boolean Search expressions, but do take advantage of sidebar directories.
Primary Sources In African American History
Note that this database is coupled with one that covers women's issues.
Project MUSE

Search Expressions: Here are some sample searches using keywords and Boolean operators:

"dr. king" OR "martin luther king"

Sorting Results and Printing: Results can be sorted by date or relevance. To print, use the button within the database.
