CA 272 - Final Web Page Project
Revised, 6/17/01
Consistent with Assignment 4, and the syllabus requirements, you must:
- Submit a detailed, written project proposal to the Instructor;
- Obtain the Instructor's approval for the proposal.
Your final project will consist of at least five original
pages containing a minimum of the following:
-
Alternate text for each graphic used. Note -- alternate text also must be included with the Image Map links;
-
An image map. The Image Map must link to at least two other pages on your Final Project web site;
-
A colored background must be included on at least one page. Consider web site consistency when choosing backgrounds and the number of pages which include backgrounds;
-
Back, forward and home buttons i.e., "in-line clickable images," must be included on each of the pages. These buttons should be of consistent design, and must be in addition to text navigation links. Include a "home" button on your home page for consistency purposes;
-
A table of at least one column and one row, containing text or graphic content. Note -- frames are not an acceptable substitute for a table. Frames are not covered in this course, and you are cautioned against using them. Frames present their own special problems and coding issues, which are not covered in this class;
-
An icon (thumbnail) graphic leading to a larger image;
-
An original animated gif, uploaded and linked within your web site. A link to to a file located at another web site is not appropriate;
-
An original sound clip, uploaded and linked within your web site. A link to to a file located at another web site is not appropriate;
-
A video clip, uploaded and linked within your web site. A link to to a file located at another web site is not appropriate;
-
Links to web sites on the World Wide Web which are related to your topic.
- A bibliography page, listing:
- Sources (books, magazines, newspaper articles) relied upon for text, ideas, or material.
- A list of material used, taken or displayed on the student's site from other web sites, including text, backgrounds, JPEGs, GIFs, animated GIFs, attributing use, with links to the site's copyright statment or home page if no copyright statement is located. State whether the site permits "free" use, or indicate clearance of copyright restrictions stated on the site.
- You will be graded on English spelling, grammar, and syntax. Please take care to draft, spell-check, and edit your web site.
- Original pages refer to all significant content on the pages. Text must be original text drafted by the students. It is preferred that graphics also be original. To the extent text or graphics created by others are published on the student web site, the source of those graphics must be listed in a footnote on the page in question, and in a bibliography page
- Significant points will be deducted for sites which in the judgment of the instructor violate or may violate one or more of the sudent web site restrictions or other requirements stated in the syllabus, including non-attribution, copyright or potential copyright law violations. "Fair use" copyright law exceptions may not excuse substantial use of other's material, as discussed in the class lectures, as the purpose of the Final Project is to educate and sensitize students to the importance of creating original web sites consistent with applicable national and international law, including copyright law. Instances of plagiarism may result in the entry of a failing grade for the Final Web Project. Please see the syllabus.
