Working With Data Tables
This page explores the multiple ways you can import and work with data tables in Dreamweaver.

Importing "Tab Delimited" Excel Spreadsheets
This is the preferred method for importing data tables from Excel. By using a "tab delimited" Excel.txt file, you import no Microsoft XML formatting. All formatting is done in Dreamweaver. See the limitations discussed below.

Accessibility features. One of the limitations is the absence of accessibility formatting and code. You can incorporate accessibility features by first creating the "bare bones" table in Dreamweaver, then importing the Excel "tab delimited" data, and then deleting the unwanted rows. We explore this technique further in the 508 Web Accessibility class.

Note: This may only work for one Excel "worksheet," not a full "workbook" with many sheets. You may have to save each worksheet separately as an Excel.txt file.
