Getting Started With Dreamweaver
There's more to getting started in Dreamweaver than just opening a new web page and starting to type. A web developer needs site management tools. Dreamweaver provides a rich environment for site management - but it takes getting used to Dreamweaver's structure to harness the software's power to help you build rich web sites efficiently and quickly.
Dreamweaver's site manager is key. Here are some "getting started" recommendations which will help you get the most out of this class.
- Arrive early if possible. As you learn the site manager, please arrive about 15 minutes before class to set up your site.
- Site Set-up Prior to Class. Please set up your Dreamweaver site by the start of class. Please transfer your files from your external drive to your CPOD computer station prior to class.
- Windows Explorer/Site Set-up Notes. Please review the step-by-step procedures for using Windows Explorer File management and Dreamweaver Site Set-up, including FTP connection to your Web4Students web site, http://web4students.montgomerycollege.edu.
- File Management: RJ Kimball Dreamweaver I Class Web Site. You can also find directions on file management and site set-up on our Dreamweaver I class web site.
- Web Tutorials. If you are fairly new to Windows Explorer, please also see Duke University’s Windows Explorer tutorial at http://www.duke.edu/~dhewitt/tutorials/explorer/explor.html. You can also run a Google search on “Windows Explorer Tutorial” to find other tutorials and “how to” guides.
- Practice At Home or Work. It is important that you practice using Dreamweaver at home or work both this week and prior to the Dreamweaver Advanced class. Here are some suggested steps on getting set up so you can practice what the Professor is preaching…J
