SSAH Advising Week: Events, Workshops, and Information Sessions

  • Are you a General Studies SSAH Major? Drop in at any of the times below to talk with designated advisors for the listed program or discipline. Course planning, major questions, SAPC review are all available during these times.  Please have your m# available.
  • Learn about the anthropology concentration within the general studies SSAH degree
    • Student academic plans that map the SSAH concentration through anthropology courses at MC
    • Transfer opportunities to major in anthropology at area institutions and beyond
    • Careers and applications for anthropology outside of academia
    • Interculturalist Badge—a micro-credential that you can earn at MC to show future employers that you have cross-cultural competency
  • The session provides an overview of the Business Administration program at MC. Students will learn about the course requirements, extracurricular activities, honors courses/programs, transfer opportunities, and career paths for business graduates.
  • In this session, you will learn about the requirements and academic pathways in your chosen core. You will also hear from faculty in the area about career and transfer degree options

  • This session is designed for students with fewer than 45 credits who are interested in planning a degree at Montgomery College. It will introduce you to the various resources you can use to create and record your academic plan. 
  • Thinking about becoming a PreK-12 teacher, but not sure which area?  If you are interested in designing a plan here at Montgomery College which will give you options for teaching social studies, history, or other related areas, come learn more about what is involved.  We will also discuss the Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees and the pathways they can create.

  • Students interested in learning about the Montgomery College Criminal Justice Program, or career opportunities in criminal justice, are strongly encouraged to attend the event.  We will be reviewing the differences between our AA and AAS degree pathways.  We will also provide information on our current transfer agreements.

  • Join program coordinator Dr. Maureen Edwards for a presentation on the new degree program in Behavioral Health. Learn about educational and career opportunities in this dynamic, fast-paced field
  • Students can come to this session to find out more about the International Studies Program.

In this session, in addition to reviewing the resources available to help you transfer successfully, you will learn what kinds of things you should be thinking about as you plan to transfer.
  • This workshop will help students design their resume and include relevant information for their career goals.
  • This is a session designed for undecided students who want help deciding on a major. This session will introduce key questions and resources you can use to narrow and decide on what major to pursue.
  • This session is designed for students with 30 credits or more to look at how to run and read a graduation audit, find resources to plan out your final semester(s) at Montgomery College, and determine what you need to do to graduate.
