Interior Design Preprofessional Degree, NKBA-Accredited Area of Concentration

Our NKBA-accredited degree program emphasizes kitchen and bath design and meets the requirements of the National Kitchen and Bath Association accreditation. You'll also learn about other aspects of interior design, including drawing, color, and space planning; fabrics; lighting; and window, wall, and floor treatments.
Our students also gain an understanding of the professional business practices needed to succeed in the industry, including preparation of estimates and advanced presentation techniques, as well as technical skills like architectural drafting, design analysis, and kitchen, bath, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Program Outcomes
Upon completion of this program a student will be able to:
- Apply design principles and color theory in the execution of interior design projects.
- Identify the correct textiles, materials, finishes, and furniture for specifications.
- Collect and interpret the data necessary to solve interior design problems.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the historic styles of interior design.
- Execute presentation and construction drawings.

Transfer Opportunities
MC has a long history of successfully preparing students for transfer. Interior design students interested in transferring should consider earning our associate of arts degree in interior design, which is articulated with the bachelor's degree program at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.
