Courageous Conversation is a new monthly initiative sponsored by the Peer2Peer program’s Peer Educators.
Courageous Conversations is a platform striven to facilitate a brave space for students, faculty, and staff to struggle with questions of inclusion, power, privilege, and diversity. This program is purposed to raise awareness of racism and radical inclusive issues in our daily personal, professional and institutional interactions and practices. We aim to include all students in discussions and training on equity, diversity and inclusion so that the MC community may embrace change and value all identities. Cultural sensitivity is a critical element to making students feel welcomed. The program will focus on current hot topics and the student experience.
The protocol for Courageous Conversations encompasses effectively engaging, sustaining and deepening intersectional dialogue. Through our Framework for Systemic Racial Equity Transformation, Rejection Sensitivity and Minority Stress Theory, among other frameworks, our dedication to helping the Montgomery College Community address persistent racial, sexual, able and other disparities intentionally, explicitly, and comprehensively is evoked. Any member of the Montgomery College community is welcome to participate, though students are our primary audience.
Our events will be held via Zoom. Please register for the event to receive details for Zoom access.
