YTH 037 - Fantastic Forensics

Description
This highly interactive, hands on forensic course will cover a variety of forensic topics covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Blood spatter analysis will discuss the viscous properties of blood and the physics of the patterns commonly seen in crime scenes. Toxicology will discuss the basics of drugs and their identification in the field and in the lab. DNA analysis will be discussed with the students performing PCR to amplify DNA and gel electrophoresis to distinguish between victim and perpetrator. Trace analysis on hair and fabric, combined with fingerprint analysis will be used to solve a crime mystery at the end of the course. Instructor: Vanessa Hobbs, MC Faculty
