    The Maryland Disability and Higher Education Network (MDDHEN) is a group of disability support service providers from colleges and universities in the state of Maryland. The "Best Practices Guidelines" reflect the diverse backgrounds, settings and experiences of these professionals in their efforts to provide the best possible services to students with disabilities in a variety of postsecondary settings. The Introduction gives further background information on the development of the MDDHEN Best Practices Guidelines.

    The Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) (MS Word .doc - 27 KB), through the collective efforts of professionals representing numerous associations, develops, examines, and endorses best practice standards and guidelines for program and service areas in higher education. These standards can be used for program design, self-evaluation, or staff development. The Book of Standards and other CAS products, including the Self-Assessment Guides (SAGS) for each area of practice, are available to order on the CAS website at http://www.cas.edu or at CAS Headquarters at One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20036-1188.
