Bruce Wagner joined the Montgomery Junior College physical education staff in 1965, and the next year, he coached the Rockville men’s tennis team to the Tri-State Conference Championship. From 1969 to 2000, he was athletic director for MC’s Takoma Park Campus. Under his guidance, Takoma Park teams won 6 JUCO soccer division titles, 12 JUCO co-ed tennis titles, 2 JUCO basketball titles, 2 Northeast NJCAA swimming titles, and both a men’s and women’s Region XX NJCAA basketball title. More than 30 All-Region NJCAA players and more than 12 All-American NJCAA players participated at Takoma Park during his tenure. His athletic program was noted for its honesty and high integrity, and in 1998, he was elected to the Region XX NJCAA Athletic Directors Hall of Fame.
